There was once an awakened Sage who lived under a banyan tree on the outskirts of an Indian village. People from the surrounding villages would go to see this holy being and have his darshan (the blessings derived from seeing a holy person).
I was talking to a friend who knows me very well the other day. Our conversations often lead into silence.
We were talking about my offering spiritual guidance to people and he said something very insightful.
“People have their own ideas about what they want and who you are and it prevents them from actually seeing what you are offering”. “Exactly!” I said.
I invite people to sit with me in the silent Presence of the Self. To be able to come into the present moment you need to see how the ego has placed itself between you and your divine Self.
The ego has done the biggest photo bomb of all time!
When you see and accept the ego for what it is, you can’t help but awaken to Presence. It doesn’t have to take very long either. It can happen in 5 minutes.
It helps to allow a teacher to take you by the hand and guide you into the experience. That takes a little humility & a little courage and you’ll never know if it works until you allow yourself to take that first step.
